Highs and Lows 😄 🤒

For those that don’t know me personally, I work for a non profit foster care agency here in Butte County with young men ages 10-15.

In an effort to increase social and emotional awareness we often practice a mindfulness activity at work called Highs and Lows, where we take turns going around the dinner table and mentioning one positive thing that happened in our day, and one not so great thing. Highs and lows.

My week started off on a high! My 5 year old son was off of school for mid-winter/presidents day break and it was too wet to go to the park, so we were able to get some good quality time in together at the house playing Go Fish, War, and Crazy 8’s. We also had the opportunity to go to Kiddos Playplace in Chico. The jungle gym there is MASSIVE and a lot of fun, if not a bit chaotic. My son had a blast running around and almost instantly found a little girl his age to play tag with.

My low of the week came when the flu hit our house. As of the time of writing this my sons and I are still sick and we’ve been fighting it off since Wednesday. Fingers crossed we get over it soon and have a chance to get up to the snow sometime later this week.

Here’s hoping that you have a great week North State, and that it's filled with more highs than lows.

Community in Action:

The BEST Burrito in The North State:

I asked and you answered! Thank you to everyone that took the time to responded with your favorite burrito place, my taste buds are excited to start researching! 🤤 😝

Super Burrito (2600 Churn Creek Rd, Redding)

An overwhelming majority of the responses came from Redding, Ca, (this might have something to do with me first promoting the newsletter in /r/Redding 😂) and in those responses a name that kept coming up was Super Burrito. Located an hour and a half away from Oroville it’s a little drive, but I love getting out there and exploring our beautiful state almost as much as I love eating delicious food! Michelle, thank you for being the first one to bring this spot to my attention, when my family and I make it out that way, lunch is on me!

Honorable Mentions:

La Costena (Oroville)

Las Brasas (Yuba City)

Salsa (Yuba City)

El Delicioso (Redding)

Thanks for reading this issue of Good News: North State! I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope to see you out there in the community. If you have some good news that you would like to see covered, or just have some feedback to share, I’m all ears. Until next week.
